Tax Manager

MedVet Medical & Cancer Centers for Pets is currently seeking a Tax Manager to join our Finance team in our Columbus, Ohio practice. The Tax Manager supports income tax return preparation by outside preparer.  Prepares returns and reviews payments as needed for Ohio CAT, personal property, sales and use, real estate, franchise and other taxes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: 

 Main Accountabilities:

  •  Prepare tax returns and file where possible.
  • Compile tax information and provide to outside tax return preparers where more technical assistance is needed.

General Functions:

  • Work with outside accountant to prepare income tax returns, estimates and extensions.
  • File routine tax returns such as sales and use, CAT, personal property and franchise returns.
  • Maintain fixed assets records to support the general ledger and income tax returns including depreciation journal entries.
  • Monitor real estate tax invoices and approve for payment.
  • Maintain MedVet Owner tax records; calculate quarterly estimates and pay tax distributions.
  • File needed state and local licensing and other Annual Reports, and other legal entity reporting needs.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business, as well as 5 years or more years of accounting experience.
  • Tax return preparation experience is helpful but not required.
  • Must be competent utilizing Microsoft Office programs including MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of Excel and be able to work with complicated formulas.
  • Must have knowledge of QuickBooks.
  • Must be very analytical, organized and detail oriented.
  • Must be an effective supervisor.
  • Must have a professional demeanor and problem-solving abilities.
