Patient Transporter -Contingent

MedVet Medical & Cancer Centers for Pets is currently seeking a Patient Transporter (This position is strictly an on-call/contingent role) to join our team in our Dayton, Ohio practice.  We are seeking an individual that is team oriented and has excellent communication skills with fellow colleagues, clients and the referral community.  The ideal candidate thrives in a fast paced environment and is dedicated to delivering the highest quality of care.   The recruited candidate will transport our patients and medical supplies to/from our other locations.

Founded in 1988, MedVet is one of the largest veterinarian-owned multispecialty and emergency practices in the country.  Three of MedVet’s Ohio medical centers (Columbus, Cincinnati & Dayton) were the first AAHA Accredited Specialty Referral hospitals in the state of Ohio.  MedVet Columbus was named the AAHA Accredited Referral Practice of the Year for 2014.

The MedVet team provides expert specialized care in areas including anesthesiology, cardiology, dermatology, emergency and critical care, integrative medicine, internal medicine, interventional radiology, medical oncology, neurology, ophthalmology, radiation oncology, radiology, rehabilitative services, and surgical services. 


  • Transports patients in a safe and professional manner.
  • Transport medical equipment between facilities and/or run errands as requested by the Clinical, Practice or Hospital Manager.
  • Communicates with clinical and client services staff in order to receive relevant data and instructions.
  • Maintains a professional behavior, and attitudes in regards to staff, coworkers and clients.
  • Completes vehicle maintenance inspection prior to daily vehicle usage for safe and comfortable patient transport.
  • Assists with transfer of patients in conjunction with technical staff.
  • Understands directions and the ability to read and use maps accurately.
  • Performs all related duties as assigned.
  • Must be available and on-site for patient transportation within 45 minutes of request when on call.
  • Safety and Company Policy Compliance:
    • Be conscientious and aware of any potential dangers and implement safety measures when necessary for the protection of all staff, clients and patients.
    • Follow protocols and policies in compliance with OSHA and the employee handbook.


  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must have a valid Ohio driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Must pass mandatory and random drug and alcohol screening.
  • Genuine concern for others.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Access to telephone; able to use and follow a schedule.
  • Ability to keep accurate mileage records in accordance with given procedures.
  • HS Diploma or GED required.

Shift:  This position is strictly an on-call/contingent role.  Hours for on call are Monday through Friday 12am-6am and Saturday/Sunday 6pm-6am. Specific work hours to be determined based on assignment and needs of the departments. On-call hours required.

All candidates must complete an acceptable background check, including references and a pre-employment drug test.
